Javier Del Rio

As Vice President of the South America Business Unit, Javier is responsible for strategic and operational performance in the region. He is also responsible for executive oversight of human and capital resources for the business unit and ensuring corporate standards are met in environmental management, health and safety performance, and community relations. Javier joined Hudbay in 2010 and was most recently Executive Director, Business Development - South America, with increasing responsibilities. Javier has over 25 years of mining experience and prior to joining Hudbay, Javier held management positions in business planning, optimization process, and business analysis with Newmont Mining Corporation in USA and Peru. Javier holds a Bachelor of Mining Engineer from Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria (UN ), and has a MBA with specialization on Finance from Daniels College of Business of Denver University.
