Hull York Medical School
Gavin Barlow is a distinguished Professor and Senior Clinical Lecturer in Infection at Hull York Medical School, with concurrent roles as Honorary Consultant in Infection at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Barlow has extensive experience in the field of infection, having served as Consultant in Infection at Hull and East Hospitals NHS Trust from November 2004 to August 2019. Barlow's academic background includes an MBChB degree from the University of Leicester and further qualifications including an FRCP from the Royal College of Physicians, a Doctor of Medicine focusing on community-acquired pneumonia from the University of Dundee, and a Diploma of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene from the University of Liverpool. Additionally, Barlow has held various clinical and academic positions, contributing to infection research and education over several years.
Hull York Medical School
Hull York Medical School was founded in September 2003 as a partnership between the University of Hull, the University of York and the NHS in North and East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire. Its first cohort of students graduated in 2008. The development and ethos of the school reflects innovative thinking about the kind of medical education required in the 21st century and a collaborative model of research development. Hull York Medical School provides a focus for improving the quality and equity of local health care and population health, the continuing professional development of all staff at all levels in the NHS, and assisting the NHS to retain newly qualified doctors. It is also the engine for the development of excellent medical and health research in the region.
