Alison Pilgrim

Chief Medical Officer at Humacyte

Alison Pilgrim has held numerous leadership roles in the pharmaceutical industry over the past few decades. Starting in 1996, they served as VP of Global Cardiovascular Clinical Research for sanofi-aventis, followed by Senior VP of Global Clinical Research for DuPont Pharmaceuticals in 1998. Pilgrim then became SVP Clinical at Elan before moving on to become CMO for Avera Pharmaceuticals in 2002. From 2005 to 2011, they served as CMO for BioVascular Inc. and was a Partner at Competitive Drug Development LLC. Alison subsequently served as Chief Medical Officer for CoLucid Pharmaceuticals from 2006 to 2012 before moving to Humacyte in 2011 as its Chief Medical Officer. Currently, Pilgrim is a Partner at Competitive Drug Development SARL, a position they have held since April 2013. Alongside their various CMO and other leadership roles, Pilgrim has also served as a board member for Protemix from 2007-2009.

Alison Pilgrim attended the University of Oxford from 1974 to 1983 where they pursued their studies in Medicine and Neurobiology. Alison graduated with a degree in BM BCh DPhil.
