Darlene Gylnn

Darlene is a longtime supporter and advocate for individuals with disabilities, first stepping into the world as a mere teenager working at St. Joseph’s Center and the ARC of Lackawanna County. She soon went on to major in Special Education at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and discovered her passion for the field. Darlene amassed valuable experience serving in a variety of different roles prior to finding her home at The Human Resources Center in 1984 as a Program Specialist in the residential program.

Her fierce determination and connection to HRC’s mission propelled her into her position today as CEO. Darlene has now been with HRC for 37 years and continues to lead with integrity and conviction. She hopes to see HRC continue to grow its multitude of programs and services, bring attention to the inclusionary goals of HRC’s mission, and become more connected to the local community in which HRC has existed for over 47 years.

Some of Darlene’s favorite programs HRC offers include Small Group Employment, Home and Community-Based Services, and Lifesharing. Darlene believes in individual choice and is proud to provide a menu of service options to consumers. Her philosophy is “one size does not fit all” -- she encourages individuals to learn about all options and select services that are right for the person, thus paving an individualized path for the future.
