Ami Rakesh Patel has a diverse range of legal experience. They started their career as a J.D. Candidate at The George Washington University Law School from August 2015 to May 2018. After completing their studies, they joined Blake Immigration Law, PLLC as a Law Clerk from September 2018 to May 2019, and later became an Associate Attorney from May 2019 to March 2021. Following this, they worked as an Attorney at The Law Office of José Pertierra from March 2021 to November 2021. Currently, Ami holds the position of Litigation Counsel at Human Rights Campaign, starting from January 2022.

Ami Rakesh Patel completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in International Relations and Affairs, as well as Anthropology, from American University in the years 2009 to 2013. Following this, they pursued further education at The George Washington University Law School, where they obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in International Law and Legal Studies from 2015 to 2018. Additionally, in 2016, they attended the University of Oxford for a summer program focused on International Human Rights Law.
