Thor Halvorssen has an extensive work background in human rights and advocacy. Thor founded the Oslo Freedom Forum in 2009 and has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Human Rights Foundation since 2005. Thor also served as the President of the Human Rights Foundation from 2005 to 2021. Prior to that, they founded the Moving Picture Institute in 2005. Additionally, they held the role of Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer at the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education from 1999 to 2004.

Human Rights Foundation (HRF) is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that promotes and protects human rights globally, with a focus on closed societies. We believe that all human beings are entitled to freedom of self-determination, freedom from tyranny, the rights to speak freely, to associate with those of like mind, and to leave and enter their countries.
