Bede Sheppard

Deputy Director, Children's Rights at Human Rights Watch

Bede Sheppard has extensive experience in the field of human rights, currently serving as Deputy Director of Children's Rights at Human Rights Watch since May 2008, where previous roles included Senior Researcher and Researcher. Bede has contributed to the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights at Oxford University as a Research Visitor and held a position as a Visiting Scholar at the New Zealand Center of Human Rights Law, Policy, and Practice. Bede's earlier career includes work as an International Human Rights Fellow at Cohen, Milstein, Hausfeld & Toll and as a Research Fellow at Human Rights Watch. Bede's foundational experience in human rights also includes a role as an Associate Field Officer at UNHCR. Academically, Bede earned a JD from Columbia Law School, a MALD from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, and a BA from Harvard University.
