Mausi Segun

Mausi Segun is the Executive Director for Africa at Human Rights Watch. Mausi has dedicated their career to human rights and has worked extensively in Nigeria and across Africa.

Ms. Segun started their career in 1993 as a Senior Legal Officer at the Federal Ministry of Justice in Nigeria. In 2000, they moved to the National Human Rights Commission, where they served as Zonal Coordinator until 2013.

In their current role at Human Rights Watch, Ms. Segun leads the organization's work on Africa, with a focus on investigating and exposing human rights abuses and advocating for justice and accountability.

Maused Segun has a Master of Laws from SOAS University of London in Human Rights Law, a Bachelor of Laws from Obafemi Awolowo University in Law, and a WASC O Level from Holy Child College in Ikoyi Lagos. Mausi is currently a practicing lawyer in Nigeria.
