Human Rights Watch
Richard Pearshouse serves as the Director of the Environment & Human Rights Division at Human Rights Watch since February 2022. Previously, Pearshouse was the Head of Crisis and Environment at Amnesty International, where responsibilities included leading strategic frameworks on environmental crises and coordinating multi-disciplinary staff to enhance program alignment. Prior to that, Pearshouse worked with Human Rights Watch in various roles, including Associate Director, where contributions involved developing strategic plans and expanding donor bases. Additional experience includes directing research and policy at the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network, legal advising with the UN Mission of Support to East Timor, and research positions at the Judicial Systems Monitoring Programme and the Australian Human Rights Commission. Pearshouse holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney, as well as a Master of Arts from Universitat Jaume I.
