Matthew Schurch is a seasoned professional in wildlife research and human-wildlife conflict management. Currently serving as a Wildlife Specialist at Humane Society International since May 2022, Matthew has also held a Research Fellow position at the University of the Western Cape since October 2018. Previously, Matthew coordinated human-wildlife conflict initiatives at Landmark Foundation from October 2017 to December 2021 and contributed as an Honorary Research Associate and Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Cape Town from September 2009 to December 2020, including various post-doctoral roles. Matthew’s editorial experience includes working as an Associate Editor for Nature Communications in 2017. Matthew earned a PhD from the University of Southampton and holds an MSci in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Bristol.
