Harald Grethe is a distinguished academic and expert in agricultural trade and development, currently serving as a Professor at Humboldt University of Berlin since 2016. In addition to this role, Harald Grethe is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board on Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Change Mitigation at the Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz, nukleare Sicherheit und Verbraucherschutz (BMUV) since March 2024. Since May 2022, Harald Grethe has been the Director of Agora Agriculture and has chaired the Scientific Advisory Council at the Thünen-Institut since September 2018. From 2012 to 2020, Harald Grethe chaired the Scientific Advisory Council on Agricultural Policy, Food and Consumer Health Protection at the Bundesministerium für Ernährung und Landwirtschaft. Prior to this, Harald Grethe held the position of Professor for Agricultural and Food Policy at the University of Hohenheim from 2008 to 2016. Academic qualifications include a Habilitation from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and a Doctorate in Agricultural Economics from The University of Göttingen.
