Franc Camps Febrer

Franc Camps Febrer has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries.

In 2008, Franc interned at the Neurologie Lab at Universitätsmedizin Charité Berlin. From 2010 to 2010, Franc worked as a research assistant at the Consciousness and Perception Lab at Columbia University.

In 2011, Franc joined New York University as a research assistant in cognitive neuroscience, focusing on implementing mathematical psychology methods in neuroaesthetics.

From 2012 to 2015, Franc worked at Knewton as a software engineer, specializing in UI and front-end development, with a specific focus on data visualization. Prior to this role, Franc also served as a data visualization engineer at Knewton, conducting data analysis and developing visualizations and dashboards for internal analytics.

From 2016 to 2018, Franc served as the software development lead at Forensic Architecture, responsible for planning, designing, and building 2D/3D tools for evidence investigation and presentation. Franc also oversaw the management of teams, coordinating with researchers, journalists, and lawyers.

At Obsidian Security, Franc held the role of lead data visualization engineer from 2019 to 2021, and later, as a staff software engineer from 2020 to 2021. In these positions, Franc designed and coordinated the implementation of a visualization framework for a B2B platform in the SaaS cybersecurity space. Franc collaborated with security engineers and data scientists to define analytical approaches and data contracts, ensuring effective visual and statistical presentation in security analysis.

Most recently, Franc joined The New York Times in 2021 as an R&D research engineer, and in 2023, Franc will assume the role of data visualization engineering lead at Hume AI.

Franc Camps Febrer's education history begins in 2002 when they enrolled at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Franc obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Physics from this institution in 2007. Afterwards, they pursued a Master's Degree in Developmental Neuroscience at The City University of New York from 2009 to 2011. In 2013, Franc completed a Non-degree Summer Intensive program at New York University's Department of Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP). Following this, in 2014, they attended the School for Poetic Computation to study Art & Technology. Lastly, from 2016 to 2017, Franc pursued a Master's Degree in Information Experience Design, obtaining a PostGraduate Diploma from the Royal College of Art.
