Paul Florez-Taylor has a diverse work experience. Paul started their career as a Publishing Intern at Marvel Entertainment in 2006, where they wrote for the Marvel Pulse Newsletter and collaborated with national clientele. In 2007, they worked as a Writer/Intern at Wizard Magazine, performing editorial duties and writing a weekly web column about DC Comics. Paul then joined The Advocate magazine as an Editorial Intern/Writer, where they wrote articles on various topics and performed editorial duties. From 2008 to 2010, Paul worked at Here Media, Inc. as a Publishing Manager for Alyson Books, where they collected information from publishers, editors, and authors and assisted in publishing tasks. Paul later joined Hachette Book Group as an Assistant to the Senior Vice President. In that role, they supported the senior vice president and completed various tasks related to publishing. From 2014 to 2016, they worked at The New School as a Readings Coordinator, supporting public programs and hosting student readings. Paul then joined HarperCollins Publishers as an Editorial and Marketing Coordinator from 2015 to 2018. Currently, they are working as the Head Auctioneer at Hunt Auctioneers, providing expert fundraising consultation for non-profit organizations. Additionally, they are a Senior Producer for The Bumby, where they work as an anonymous performance artist providing fair and honest appraisals of people's appearances.

Paul Florez-Taylor earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in English Writing from Florida State University, which they attended from 2004 to 2006. In 2005, they briefly studied English Language and Literature as a transient student at New York University. Paul later pursued their passion for Creative Writing and obtained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from The New School, where they studied from 2013 to 2015.
