Matthew Stern

Music Director at Huntington Theatre Company

Matthew Stern has a diverse work experience in the field of music theatre. Matthew started their career as a Lecturer at Boston University in 2016. In 2010, they became the Head of Music Directors and Theater Director at the French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts. Matthew has also worked as a Music Director at various theatre companies including the Huntington Theatre Company, SpeakEasy Stage Company, The Lyric Stage Company of Boston, Greater Boston Stage Company, New Repertory Theatre, Wheelock Family Theatre, and Umbrella Stage Company. In addition, they have served as an Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre at Boston Conservatory at Berklee since 2016.

Matthew Stern attended Brandeis University from 2004 to 2008, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance and Near Eastern and Judaic Studies. Following that, they pursued higher education at Boston University from 2013 to 2016 and obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree with a focus on Theater Studies, specifically Musical Theater.
