Christoph Jung

Christoph has been at HV Capital for 20 years. He has contributed to the firm in various roles and has seen the rise of the industry from the very beginning.

Growing up in the Rhineland area, Christoph comes from a family that have been entrepreneurs for more than 100 years, ingrained with a profound long-term view on everything they do. Christoph learned the family tradition early on, which had a lasting impact on him and his work.

Christoph studied Business Administration in Bayreuth, graduating with honors. He went on to work for Deutsche Bank and an international top management consultancy. Both experiences taught him the value of hard work, results-orientation and an obsessive customer-focus.

Early on, he decided to apply these values in a new field: venture capital. Christoph was amongst the founding team of HV Capital. In 2000 he was amongst the first to invest in the emerging European digital ecosystem. In the beginning, he thought the digital trend would only disrupt the media industry. He admits he was very wrong. Every year since has offered him a wealth of experience. He often refers to this ongoing learning process in his career.

Christoph has been responsible, among other things, for the fund’s investments in DaWanda, MyHammer and MeinAuto, in all cases from initial seed investment to successful exit. Recently, Christoph played a leading role in the setup and financing of Ottonova, Germany’s first purely digital health insurance company.
