Edward Amankwatia

Edward Amankwatia has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Edward is currently working as a Development Scientist at hVIVO since October 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Newcastle University from 2016 to 2021. At Newcastle University, they had two roles - Research Associate (CRUK Biomarkers) from September 2017 to September 2021, and Research Associate from April 2016 to September 2017. Edward'sresponsibilities included developing methods for circulating microRNA projects and mentoring MRes projects. Edward presented their work at the 1st Northern Breast Cancer Research Group Meeting in 2018.

Before joining Newcastle University, Edward Amankwatia worked as a Research Associate at the University of Surrey from February 2015 to March 2016. Edward then began their research career as a PhD researcher at the University of Dundee from October 2010 to November 2014. During their PhD, they focused on the role of microRNAs in colorectal cancer development and treatment response, aiming to identify novel biomarkers. Edward presented their work at the 8th National Cancer Research Institute Conference in 2012 and received the Richard Hambro Student Prize for their abstract.

Edward Amankwatia has a strong education background in the field of biomedical research and oncology. Edward earned their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from St George's, University of London (for students and alumni) in 2007. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of Aberdeen from 2007 to 2008. Edward then furthered their education by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biomedical Research (oncology) from the University of Dundee in 2014.
