Fernando Aponte-Rivera, P.E.

Fernando Aponte-Rivera, P.E. has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Fernando currently serves as a Project Manager at HVJ Associates®, a position they have held since March 2021. Before that, they worked at Terracon as a Project Engineer from February 2014 to October 2020. Prior to their role at Terracon, they were a Graduate Student at Texas A&M University, where they conducted research on Thermo Hydro Mechanical (THM) phenomena observed in unsaturated soils used as engineered barriers in underground nuclear waste repositories.

Additionally, Fernando has worked as a Graduate Student at Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI), where they studied the Creep Behavior of Soil Nails Walls in High Plasticity Index Soils and assisted in the construction and instrumentation of a reinforced concrete mat foundation. Fernando also gained experience as an Undergraduate Student Intern at the University of Texas at Austin, where they performed fatigue tests on asphalt's Fine Aggregate Mix (FAM) samples.

In the early stages of their career, Fernando worked as a Sales Associate at American Eagle Outfitters and as a Bank Clerk at Doral Mortgage. As a Bank Clerk, their responsibilities included contacting appraisal offices and updating the appraisal division database.

Fernando also holds a High School Diploma from University Gardens High School (2002-2005).
