Katharine Philp

Katharine heads the Health Law practice group in Brisbane and is highly regarded for her expertise in Health Law and Medical Negligence. She has more than 30 years‘experience defending personal injury actions across various Australian jurisdictions and has conducted health law related matters for the last 20 years. In 2002 Katharine was awarded a Masters in Health and Medical Law from the University of Melbourne.

Katharine acts for most of Australia’s medical defence organisations, as well as individual doctors.

Katharine has been named in Best Lawyers™ Australia for Health and Aged Care Law since the awards started in 2008 and Medical Negligence including selection for Lawyer of the Year (2018) for Health & Aged Care – Brisbane. She has also been listed in Doyle’s Legal Guide in the Preeminent tier for the ‘Leading Medical Negligence Lawyers (Defendant) – Brisbane 2015’ and ‘Leading Medical Negligence & Malpractice Lawyers (Defendant) – Queensland 2016’. She has also been selected for inclusion in the Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2014/15) for Insurance.
