Born in Adelaide, Timothy Stokes was admitted to practice as a lawyer in South Australia in 1997. Timothy has a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of Adelaide.
Mr Stokes is a partner at HWL Ebsworth and previously worked at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers, Racing South Australia and Deloitte Australia. At Deloitte, they focused on complex tax advisory, tax controversy, not-for-profits and charities, transactions, film and entertainment and tax governance.
Mr Stokes has extensive experience in tax law and has been recognised as a leading tax lawyer by Best Lawyers Australia and Chambers Asia-Pacific. Timothy is a member of the Law Council of Australia's Taxation Committee.
Timothy Stokes has a Master of Laws (Taxation) from the University of Melbourne, a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice (Honours) & Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from Flinders University, and a South Australian Certificate of Education from Sacred Heart College. Timothy is also certified by the Law Society of South Australia as an Accredited Tax Law Specialist, the High Court of Australia as a Barrister and Solicitor, the Supreme Court of South Australia as a Barrister and Solicitor, and The Tax Institute as a Fellow (FTI).
