Debbie K. Chen, PhD has a long and varied work experience. Debbie K. began their career in 2004 as a Data Analyst for the Naval Health Research Center, Warfighter Performance, where they analyzed changes in brain activity using electroencephalography (EEG) and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) during motion sickness. Debbie K. then moved on to Tufts University in 2005, where they were a Graduate Researcher in the Biomedical Engineering Department. In 2010, they joined UC San Diego as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Pathology Department. In 2013, they moved on to the Scripps Institution of Oceanography as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist. In 2015, they joined the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute as a Scientist in the High Content Screening department. In 2018, they founded and became the CEO of Hydrostasis. Most recently, in 2019, they joined the University of California San Diego as an Entrepreneur in Residence, where they speak, mentors, and inspires UCSD communities and advocates for female and under-represented founders.
Debbie K. Chen, PhD has a background in biomedical engineering, having earned a Ph.D. from Tufts University and a B.S. from UC San Diego. In addition, they have obtained two certifications: Data Mining for Advanced Analytics from UC San Diego Extension in September 2018 and The Micro-MBA Program from the Rady Center for Executive Development in June 2015.
