Rajesh Bashyam

Dr. Rajesh is a passionate and prolific inventor with deep knowledge, skills, and 25 years of experience in both fundamental and applied aspects of PEM fuel cells, Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEA) and advanced materials engineering. His career span from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), Ballard Power Systems, Great Wall Motors, and Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies.

He tenaciously leads product-oriented innovation. He served as a panel member in international conferences and program committee. He earned numerous awards and some of his selected awards include Director’s postdoctoral fellow award from LANL, best postdoctoral publication prize in experimental Science for his paper published in “Nature” in 2006 at LANL, Ballard’s Technology and Product Development Excellence award in 2012, Ballard’s Prolific Inventor Award for the year 2015, 2016 and 2018. He has over 20 patent (granted/published/pending) applications. Dr. Rajesh graduated from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry with “Langmuir Prize” for best Thesis Award in fuel cell research.

Dr. Rajesh joined Hyzon Motors in 2020 and responsible for MEA technology development and manufacturing, intellectual property, and strategic core technology development. Dr Rajesh also lead advanced materials engineering and manufacturing to support Hyzon’s next generation fuel cell stacks.
