Jan Petr serves as a Senior Researcher at Helmholtz-zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf since October 2011, focusing on the comparison of MRI perfusion images and their application in cancer research, as well as the development of image processing algorithms and MRI sequence programming. Additional experience includes roles as a Visiting Researcher at Amsterdam UMC and Rochester Institute of Technology, and a Senior Engineer at INRIA, where Jan worked on real-time segmentation of ultrasound data and algorithm validation. Previous positions include a post-doctoral role at INRIA, emphasizing brain perfusion images and functional MRI tasks, and industrial research at the Software Competence Center Hagenberg, concentrating on image processing. Jan earned a PhD in artificial intelligence and bioinformatics from Czech Technical University in Prague and a degree in computer science from Charles University.
