Alina Mihailova

Alina Mihailova is an experienced Analytical Chemist specializing in food authenticity at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) since 2018. Key responsibilities include the development of non-targeted analytical methods to verify food authenticity using techniques such as high-resolution mass spectrometry, vibrational spectroscopy, multispectral imaging, and ion mobility spectrometry, along with providing training and technical support for the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme. Prior to this, Alina served as a Senior Analytical Technician and PhD Researcher at the University of East Anglia from 2009 to 2018, focusing on analytical method development and research projects related to food authenticity and geographical origin. Alina began the career as a Research Assistant at Latvijas Universitate and the Latvian State Forest Research Institute, enhancing analytical skills and methodologies. Alina holds a PhD in Analytical Food Chemistry, an MSc in Biological Sciences, and a BSc in Biological Sciences, all from reputable institutions in the United Kingdom and Latvia.
