Christoph Gastl

Christoph Gastl is a seasoned professional in the nuclear sector, currently serving as a Spent Nuclear Fuel Specialist at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) since January 2019. Previously, Christoph held roles as a Scientific Officer at the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management from February 2017 to December 2018 and as a Technical Officer at the Bundesamt fuer Strahlenschutz (BfS) between January 2010 and January 2017. In these positions, Christoph focused on the interim storage of used nuclear fuel and regulatory compliance with the Atomic Energy Act. Christoph began their academic career as a scientific employee and coordinator for SFB 706 at the University of Stuttgart from February 2008 to December 2009. Academically, Christoph earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Stuttgart in 2008 and a Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry from the same institution in 2005, with additional studies at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in 2000.
