Ivan Ingelbrecht graduated in 1993 with a degree in plant molecular biology and genetics from Ghent University, Belgium. They have worked extensively in applied agricultural research, focusing on plant biotechnology, breeding, and pathology, particularly in the context of international development. Ivan held leadership roles at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture and UNIDO, managing projects aimed at enhancing food security and agro-industrial development. Since 2016, they have served as the Head of the FAO/IAEA Plant Breeding and Genetics Laboratory in Austria, concentrating on crop improvement through mutagenesis techniques. Ivan also works as an independent consultant, providing feasibility and evaluation services related to crop improvement.
