Cheryl Brooks has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Cheryl started their career as a Systems Engineer at Computer Task Group, Inc., where they worked on the design, analysis, development, and implementation of an online IMS Retirement System for Coca-Cola Co. Cheryl then joined the NC Department of Public Instruction and served as an Applications Developer & Team Lead, providing technical leadership and support for the Financial applications. Cheryl also worked as an IT Business Systems Analyst, leading a team that designed and developed the HRMS system for NC public school districts.

Cheryl later moved to Education Management Systems, where they took on the role of an IT Business Analyst/Consultant. Cheryl played a pivotal role in the design and development of a comprehensive new HR module for the company's ERP software, which was successfully deployed to North Carolina school districts.
