Álvaro Urbasos Ramos has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Álvaro started their career as a Nuclear Energy Researcher at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 2006. Álvaro then worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Tecnicas Reunidas from 2006 to 2008. In 2008, they joined Iberdrola as a Coal Trader, specializing in coal trading for Iberdrola's coal generation assets in Spain and developing an international coal price exposure model. From 2012 to 2013, they worked at Scottish Power as an Energy Trader, responsible for portfolio optimization of generation assets and retail customers demand. Álvaro returned to Iberdrola in 2013 as a Senior Energy Trader, participating in cross-border interconnector capacity power auctions in France, Germany, and Italy. In 2014, they briefly worked as a Liason Office Analyst at Avangrid Renewables. Álvaro then took on the role of Head of Electricity Operations (Iberia) at Iberdrola in 2015, managing a team of 15 professionals and overseeing activities in power futures, interconnector capacity, carbon emissions, and more in multiple European countries. In 2016, they became the Head of Portfolio Optimization and Trading at Iberdrola, implementing forward hedging strategies and conducting trading activities in various markets.

Álvaro Urbasos Ramos received their Master's degree in the Electric Power Industry from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in 2010. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in Energy Techniques from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, which they completed in 2007.
