Darnell Boudreaux, MHA, BS, BA, RHIA

Darnell Boudreaux, MHA, BS, BA, RHIA has over 12 years of experience in Health Information Management. From 2018 to present, they have been the Manager at Iberia Comprehensive Comm Hlth, where they are responsible for monthly chart audits to present findings at performance improvement meetings, participates in monthly committees, and is responsible for the monitoring, evaluating, educating and improving the quality of health information. From 2014 to 2018, they were the Director of Health Information Management at UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL AND CLINICS, LAFAYETTE GENERAL HEALTH, where they managed and administered the daily function and clerical staff of the Health Information Management (HIM) department, managed daily proper physician/nursing documentation for Cerner Millennium EMR System, and oversaw and assisted in the monthly training and ongoing maintenance for ICD-10-CM. From 2008 to 2014, they were the Director of Health Information Management at Mercy Regional Medical Center/Acadian Medical Center, where they managed the daily functions of two campuses of HIM employees, was responsible for the electronic paper chart conversion and/or implementation along with CPOE for physician order entry, and was responsible for HIPAA compliance internal and external and education to new hires during orientation and quarterly reporting of complaints to OIG. From 2007 to 2008, they were the Director of Administrative Services/Health Information Management at Vital Source Specialty Hospital/Promise Hospital, where they managed the daily functions of the HIM department, managed the Medical staff office, and was responsible for all the initial coding, concurrent coding and final coding of diagnosis.

Darnell Boudreaux obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in General Studies from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1986-1989. Darnell then obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Health Information Management from The University of Texas Medical Branch in 1988-1991. In September of 1991, they obtained a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) from the American Health Information Management Association. Finally, they obtained a Masters of Health Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2021-2022.
