Horst Samulowitz

Horst Samulowitz is a Senior Research Manager and Principal Research Staff Member at IBM, where they lead the AI Automation, Planning, and Performance research department. Their research interests include meta-learning, combinatorial search and optimization, and machine learning, with a current focus on applying AI to automate Data Science. Previously, Horst worked at Microsoft Research and the University of Melbourne, and they earned a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto and a Master's degree from RWTH Aachen. Their career has spanned six countries and three continents, highlighting their global perspective on AI research.
