Junkyu Lee is a research scientist at IBM, currently focused on reasoning with large language models and causal inference. They began their academic journey with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, followed by a Master of Science in Wireless Communication and a second Master's in Computer Science from UC Irvine, where they also earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science. Previously, Junkyu held positions such as a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at UC Irvine, a Machine Learning Research Intern at Adobe, and a Senior Researcher at the Agency for Defense Development. From 2021 to 2024, they worked as a research scientist in the IBM AI Residency Program before advancing to a staff research scientist role.
