Skyler Speakman

Skyler Speakman is a Senior Research Scientist and Manager for A.I. Sciences at IBM Research - Africa, focusing on creating intelligent information systems for public good applications. Skyler completed a PhD in Public Policy & Information Systems and a Master's in Machine Learning at Carnegie Mellon University, where they also served as an Adjunct Professor. Prior experience includes roles as a Senior Research Scientist and Technical Lead in Fairness & Bias at IBM, and a Student Researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Skyler's research interests include pattern detection in spatial-temporal datasets, applied scan statistics in bio-surveillance, and addressing data challenges in urban settings.
