Katja Lierhaus

Mechanical Engineer at ICON

Katja Lierhaus has a diverse work experience in the fields of mechanical engineering and product design. Katja began their career at the Smithsonian Institution's Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in 2014. Katja then interned at RWTH Aachen University's Department of Architecture, where they synthesized data from research papers to design 3D AutoCAD models and conducted experiments on brick erosion.

In 2016, Katja joined Nike as an Associate Footwear Engineer, working on product engineering and design. Katja later became a Product Engineer I, specializing in footwear.

In 2018, Katja transitioned to Essential, where they worked as a Mechanical Engineer for two years before joining Facebook in 2020. At Facebook, they served as a Product Design Engineer for the Facebook Reality Labs.

Currently, Katja is employed at ICON as a Mechanical Engineer, starting in 2022.

Katja Lierhaus began their education at The Bromfield School from 2008 to 2012. Katja then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering Sciences with a secondary field in Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University from 2012 to 2016. In 2014, they also participated in a study abroad program at Harvard University, focusing on German Language and Literature. In 2013, they attended Middlebury College for a brief period, where they studied at the German Language School. Continuing their academic journey, they enrolled in the Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 2018, specializing in Design Discovery: Urban Planning and Design.
