Avigail Shai

Avigail Shai has extensive experience in policy development and diplomatic advisory roles, primarily within humanitarian and international relations contexts. At the International Committee of the Red Cross from October 2019 to June 2023, Shai served as a Senior Policy Adviser, focusing on climate and conflict, peace, pandemics, and humanitarian financing, and as a Diplomatic Adviser to guide strategic engagement with the United Nations. Prior experience includes serving as a Policy Adviser at the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre, where responsibilities involved institutional engagement strategies and influencing policy on internal displacement. Shai also held communications and policy roles at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australian Embassy in Harare, addressing issues related to human rights and international relations in various capacities. Recent educational pursuits include certificates in Mastering Board Governance from IMD and Climate Change for Decision-Makers from the University of Cambridge.
