Betsy Laird

EVP, Public Policy at ICSC

Betsy Laird serves as the Executive Vice President at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) since November 2003, overseeing government relations for a large retail real estate association with over 50,000 members. Laird previously held positions as a Board Member for the California Business Properties Association and as Vice President & Associate General Counsel at the International Franchise Association, where legislative and legal operations for the franchise community were expanded. Earlier experiences include serving as Director of National Affairs at NPR, advocating for the organization before Congress and regulatory bodies, and managing public affairs and government relations at Time Warner Cable. Laird began a career in legislative support as an Executive Assistant for members of the U.S. House. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Penn State University and a Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
