Riaz (Ray) Gaya has a wealth of experience in the banking industry, with a focus on credit management and underwriting.
From 2000 to 2005, they worked at HSBC Bank, NA as a VP, Credit Portfolio Manager. In this role, they managed a diverse loan portfolio worth $3 billion, which included commercial real estate, middle-market, and syndicated corporate loans.
In 2005, they joined Amerant Bank, NA as an SVP, Credit Manager. Throughout their 14-year tenure, they oversaw complex transactions in the Florida, Texas, and New York regions. Riaz (Ray)'sresponsibilities included underwriting and monitoring various types of loans, such as construction loans, financing for multifamily, office, retail, industrial, and lodging facilities, as well as commercial and middle-market revolving credit lines. Riaz (Ray) also collaborated with business line segments to identify and structure credit-worthy projects.
Since 2019, Riaz has been working at Israel Discount Bank as a Senior Vice President and the Head of Florida Middle Office. In this position, they manage all credit underwriting, loan review, and loan administration functions for the Florida domestic and international private banking loan portfolios.
Riaz (Ray) Gaya, Senior Credit Executive, holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance from the University of Miami Herbert Business School. Riaz (Ray) also earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Economics, Accounting, and Statistics from Simon Fraser University. Riaz has additional certifications from The Risk Management Association.
