Abe Barela

Abe Barela is a seasoned accounting and finance professional with extensive experience in various leadership roles across the education and public sectors. Currently serving as the VP of Accounting at IDEA Public Schools since April 2025, Abe has previously held the position of Controller at Rocketship Public Schools, where duties included monthly and annual accounting closings under FASB & GASB guidelines. Prior to that, Abe was the Senior Director of Operations & Reporting at Agfinity, Inc., managing a budget of over $225 million. Additional experience includes Controller roles at Connect for Health Colorado and K12, alongside positions in financial reporting and auditing at Grant Thornton LLP and various school districts. Abe holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from National American University and is currently a CPA candidate.
