Emily Hashimoto has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Emily started their career in 2006 as an LGBT Consultant for the New York City Council, Office of Speaker Christine Quinn. Emily then worked as an Outreach Director for Linda Stender's Congressional campaign in 2006. In 2007, they joined GLAAD as a Special Events Coordinator, where they organized numerous events and managed relationships with donors and corporate partners. Emily also served as a Communications Coordinator for Planned Parenthood Federation of America from 2008 to 2009. Emily then became a Major Gifts Coordinator at the organization from 2009 to 2010. After that, they worked as a Senior Alumni Outreach Officer at Pratt Institute from 2010 to 2012. Emily has also worked at Idealist.org, where they held various roles, including Account Manager from 2012 to 2016, Senior Director of Client Relations from 2016 to 2020, Director of Career Content from 2021 to 2023, and currently serves as the Director of Audience Success. Throughout their career, Emily has demonstrated their expertise in audience success, career content development, client relations, alumni outreach, events coordination, and fundraising.
Emily Hashimoto has a diverse education history. Emily attended Dumont High School for their secondary education. After high school, Emily studied Theatre Arts at Boston University from 2002 to 2003. Emily then pursued Comparative Women's Studies in Europe at Antioch College in 2005. Emily continued their education at Rutgers University from 2003 to 2006, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Women's & Gender Studies and Politics. Emily further pursued their academic interests by earning a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from Pratt Institute between 2009 and 2012. In 2015, Emily participated in the VONA/Voices Summer Workshop, focusing on LGBTQ Narrative.
