Bishnu Bhattarai

Bishnu Bhattarai, PhD, SMIEEE, currently serves as the Technical Committee Program Chair for the IEEE PES Smart Building, Loads, and Customer Systems and as an editor for the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, roles held since January 2020. In addition, Bishnu acts as Secretary and Chair of Young Professionals for the IEEE Richland Section. A Technology Manager at the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Energy Technology Office, Bishnu's previous positions include Analysis and Controls Lead at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Senior Research Scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Smart Grid from Aalborg University and advanced degrees in Power System Engineering and Electrical Engineering from Tribhuvan University. Research interests focus on microgrids, demand response, cyber-physical security, grid resiliency, and big data analytics.
