Pietro Valdastri is an esteemed expert in robotics and autonomous systems, currently serving as an IEEE Fellow and Chief Technology Officer at Atlas Endoscopy since January 2022. At the University of Leeds, Pietro holds multiple positions including Director of Robotics, Director of the Institute of Robotics, Autonomous Systems and Sensing, and Professor with a Chair in Robotics and Autonomous Systems, roles maintained since June 2016. Prior experience includes serving as Assistant Professor across multiple disciplines at Vanderbilt University from August 2011 to June 2016 and as Co-Founder and R&D Director at W.I.N. Wireless Integrated Network from March 2009 to August 2011. Pietro began academic work as an Assistant Professor at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna from May 2008 to August 2011. Pietro obtained a PhD in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (2003-2006) and a Laurea in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Università di Pisa (1995-2002).
