Bruce Lockwood

Bruce Lockwood is an IEM Emergency Management Advisor. In that role, he is part of a team of senior subject matter experts and consultants who provide clients with industry-leading solutions on project execution, technical innovation, and growth strategies. Lockwood is a Certified Emergency Manager through the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) and a subject matter expert in emergency management and planning. Lockwood also manages IEM’s Rapid Response Cadre (https://iem.com/careers/rapid-response-cadre/).

Prior to joining IEM, Lockwood served as the Acting Fire Captain for the East Hartford Fire Department in Connecticut, where he managed the Emergency Management Division. He previously served as Deputy Director of Emergency Management for the Town of New Hartford, the Director of Emergency Management and Fire Marshal for the Town of Canton, and the Emergency Response Coordinator for the Bristol Burlington Health District. Lockwood was appointed to serve as Commissioner on the National Commission on Children in Disasters in 2008. In this position, Lockwood chaired the sub-committee on Evacuation, Transportation, and Housing, delivering two reports to the President and Congress. In 2014, Lockwood served as President of the IAEM U.S. Council, and he served as a U.S. Representative on its Global Board from 2015 to 2017.

Lockwood also served as the Chief of Department for the Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department in his hometown in Connecticut​. His first stint with the local town service was 35 years prior when Bruce joined after graduating high school. Since then, Bruce has served his local community and the Fire and EMS Department in a variety of capacities.
