Sean Carney

Principal Project Engineer at II-VI Aerospace & Defense

Sean Carney has over 20 years of work experience in various roles related to engineering and project management. Sean started their career as an R&D Physicist at Bruker AXS, where they developed and produced thin films and designed lens systems. Sean then worked as a Thin Film Engineer at ZC&R Coatings for Optics, where they designed and characterized thin films. Sean later became the Engineering Manager and QA Manager at Thin Film Devices Inc., where they controlled thin film processes and interfaced with production and customers. After that, they joined Channel Islands Opto-Mechanical Engineering Inc. as a Thin Film Coating Engineer, specializing in developing anti-reflection and Gaussian mirror coatings. Sean then moved to Melles Griot as a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, providing engineering support for optical fabrication and assembly. Currently, Sean is working as a Principal Project Engineer at II-VI Aerospace & Defense, supporting program management and providing technical guidance and coordination for assigned programs.

Sean Carney received a Master of Science degree in Applied Physics from DePaul University, where they studied from 1991 to 1996.
