COMPENSATION: $31.51/hour + DOE, Benefits, Non-Exempt Position

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Accounting Technician provides general accounting support to the Business Office and processes Account Payable transactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Processes Account Payable transactions (check request, purchase order, purchase request, etc.).
Prepares monthly AP reconciliation to general ledger.
Verifies invoices & check requests for accuracy, coding, and approval, and process vouchers for payment.
Prints & distributes accounts payable checks.
Update and Maintain vendors’ file.
Responds to vendor inquiries.
Prepares Form 1099.
Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances
Performs other related duties as required
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting concepts, techniques and principles. Demonstrated PC Skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Proficient in Microsoft Business Applications. Experience with Great Plains accounting software.
Demonstrated ability to meet extremely tight deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and under minimal supervision. Good oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/EXPERIENCE [Required]:
Associate’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or related field.
Minimum of two years of accounting work/business office experience.
Minimum of two years computerized software experience.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or related field.
Five years accounting/business office experience.
Valid driver’s license.

Life Insurance - Iḷisaġvik College offers Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage through Guardian Life to employees at no cost to the employee in the amount of $100,000/per benefit.
