Graduated in Economics and Commerce from Sapienza University, he continued his studies at Columbia University and Princeton University. He began his career as an economist at the Bank of Italy where he deals with monetary policy and financial markets and intermediaries.
In 1998 he joined the World Bank where he remained for 12 years, occupying increasingly important positions over the years, until he was appointed Executive Director representing Italy, Portugal, Greece, Albania, Malta, East Timor and San Marino. In 2010 he returned to the Bank of Italy in the role of Principal Director in the Risk Management Service. From 2014 to 2015 he worked at the Ministry of Economy and Finance as a Member of the Technical Scientific Council of Experts and of the Cabinet of the Minister for the organization and management of the Italian Presidency of the EU Council. At the end of this post he returns to the United States as Head of the Bank of Italy Delegation in New York with responsibility for the economies of North America.
In parallel with his policy making activity, he has published books and articles on monetary policy, financial regulation and risk management, both scientific and informative, also collaborating with IlSole24Ore.
In 2021 he becomes a member of the illimity Board of Directors.
