Omkar Gandhi is an engineering student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Mechanics. Currently serving as a Drivetrain & Aerodynamics Engineer at Illini Electric Motorsports, Omkar has developed a pretension nut to enhance bearing efficiency and selected a rotary seal to minimize energy loss. Concurrently, Omkar is an Undergraduate Researcher at the Energy Transport Research Lab, focusing on heat exchanger etching protocols and wind tunnel experiments for evaporator performance. As Director of Professional Development for Ascend UIUC Chapter and an Engineer with Illini Formula Electric, Omkar has gained experience in composites manufacturing and aerodynamic design. Prior internship experience includes a role at Entrib Analytics Technology Private Limited. Educational background includes leadership in academic and project-based environments at The Orchid School and St. Mary’s School in Pune.
