Daniel Smith-Taube

Daniel Smith-Taube has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Daniel started their career as a Service Desk Technician at the University Computer Help Desk at Illinois State University in 2008. After gaining experience in various IT support roles within the university, they eventually became an IT Manager, leading a team that provided end-user technology services.

In 2013, Daniel briefly worked as an Application Administrator for Enterprise Applications before transitioning to the role of IT Support Associate, where they provided technical support to students, faculty, and staff.

In 2017, Daniel took on the role of Interim Assistant Director, Office of Identity and Access Management, where they led the development of an IAM program. Daniel later became the Assistant Director, Office of Identity and Access Management, responsible for leading the Identity and Access Management operations at the university.

In 2020, Daniel was promoted to the position of Interim Chief Information Security Officer, overseeing the strategy and operations of the Information Security Office and the Office of Identity and Access Management. Daniel was recently appointed as the Chief Information Security Officer at Illinois State University.

In addition to their work at the university, Daniel also worked as a freelance Web Developer, specializing in contract web development for small to medium-sized businesses. Daniel collaborated with clients to create responsive websites and integrate third-party APIs for data management.

Before their university career, Daniel had a work-study role in maintenance at St. Rita High School from 2003 to 2006.

Daniel Smith-Taube pursued their higher education at Illinois State University, focusing on Information Systems. Prior to that, they attended Elmhurst University and obtained a degree in Information Systems Security. Daniel completed their high school education at St. Rita High School. Additionally, Daniel has obtained various certifications over the years, including "Confronting Bias: Thriving Across Our Differences" and "How to Be an Effective Remote Manager" from LinkedIn, "Certificate of Completion in The Voice of Leadership" and "Certificate of Completion in Preparing for Leadership" from the American Management Association, "HDI Desktop Support Manager" from HDI, and "ITIL Foundation v3" from Loyalist Certification Services.
