Chief Legal Counsel at Illinois Supreme Court

Amy Bowne has a diverse work experience. Amy began their career as a Law Clerk at the US Department of Homeland Security in 2007. Amy then worked as a Campaign Manager for Friends for Cesar A. Santoy from 2008 to 2009. After that, they joined Update Legal as a Contract Attorney from 2009 to 2010. Amy then transitioned to the Office of the Illinois Senate President, where they served as an Assistant Legal Counsel from 2010 to 2013. Since 2013, they have been employed by the Illinois Supreme Court, holding various positions. Amy started as an Executive Office Attorney from 2013 to 2020, then became a Senior Attorney from 2018 to 2020. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Legal Counsel at the Illinois Supreme Court, starting in July 2020.

Amy Bowne received their Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, where they studied from 1996 to 1999. Amy then pursued further education at DePaul University College of Law, where they earned their Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in International & Comparative Law. Amy attended DePaul University College of Law from 2003 to 2008.
