Adriaan Van Heerden

Adriaan Van Heerden has over 20 years of experience in various leadership roles in software engineering and technology. Adriaan is currently the Vice President of Software Engineering at illumin (AcuityAds Inc.), a role they began in November 2022.

Prior to this, Adriaan held the positions of Vice President and CIO - Africa at American Tower from July 2021 to October 2022. Adriaan'sresponsibilities included providing technology support for mergers and acquisitions, driving digital initiatives, and introducing agile and collaborative approaches to deliver value to users. Before that, they served as Project Director IT, EMEA at American Tower from July 2018 to June 2021.

From June 2016 to June 2018, Adriaan worked at Absa Group as the Chief Architect and Head of Software Engineering. In this role, they were responsible for designing the strategic technology landscape and driving innovative initiatives. Adriaan leveraged new technology trends to transform Absa Group into an innovative and agile bank.

Adriaan also gained experience at Standard Bank Group, where they held various positions, including Executive, Regional Head, CIB Technology, West Africa from January 2016 to May 2016, IT Manager from October 2011 to July 2014, and Lead Implementation Programme Manager from July 2014 to December 2015.

Prior to their roles at Standard Bank Group, Adriaan worked as a Delivery Manager at ITQ Business Solutions and as a Software Engineering Lead at GISCOE (Pty) Ltd. Adriaan started their career as a Software Engineer at ITQ Business Solutions and Intrinsyc Solutions.

Throughout their career, Adriaan Van Heerden has demonstrated expertise in driving technology strategy, implementing innovative initiatives, and leveraging new technology trends to achieve business objectives.

Adriaan Van Heerden has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Information Systems from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika, which they obtained from 2012 to 2015. In 2020, they completed the Six Sigma Green Belt Theory Examination at 2KO Africa CC. In 2014, they participated in the Barclays Excellence Leadership Program at Duke University, focusing on Leadership. Additionally, in 2000, they completed a Diploma in Computer Programming Honors at CTI Education Group.

Adriaan Van Heerden has also obtained several certifications, including Verified International Academic Qualifications from the World Education Services in May 2023. In December 2020, they completed the Accelerated Leadership Development Program at INSEAD. Adriaan also holds a certification as a Certified LeSS Practitioner from The LeSS Company, obtained in April 2017. Lastly, they are an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, certified by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in September 2020.
