Mark Costa is the Sr. Vice President and Area Manager of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan & Hospitals in Orange County. With 37 years of experience, Mark serves as the chief executive for the Kaiser Permanente Health Plan and Hospital Operations where he is responsible for the care delivery of over 550,000 members supported by 7,791 staff and 896 Permanente physicians that he leads in partnership with the Orange County Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG.)
Previous to his current position, Mark was the Executive Director of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan & Hospitals, Los Angeles where he had operational responsibility for all health plan and hospital functions of the Los Angeles Medical Center. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Mark was as an executive leader with several Southern California health care organizations including Providence Health System, Little Company of Mary, Torrance Memorial, and California Medical Center.
Mark received both his undergraduate degree and Masters of Public Health degree at UCLA and is a current member of the UCLA School of Public Health Alumni Board.
Mark is an active leader in the community and is currently a board member of the Orange County Business Council and Calif. State University Fullerton’s Philanthropic Foundation Board of Governors. Mark is the Orange County Area Representative on the Board of Directors for the Hospital Association of Southern California, effective January 2017. He has served as past Chairman of the Hospital Association of Southern California and the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical System Commission, as well as serving as member of the Board of Directors of the California Hospital Association, to name just a few.
