Jeff Hackel Sphr

Jeff Hackel, SPHR, SHRM-SCP has extensive experience in various senior human resources leadership roles. Jeff is currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Illuminus. Previously, they held the position of Chief People Officer at Oakwood Village, where they were responsible for strategic planning, policy development, and overall administration of the HR department. Jeff also served as the Vice President and Board Member at Marquardt Village, where they provided volunteer leadership as Vice President and served on the Executive Committee.

Before that, Hackel held the position of Vice President, Human Resources at Stoughton Trailers, LLC, where they focused on enhancing employee engagement and culture change. Jeff also served as the Chief Human Resource Officer at WEA Trust, leading the organization through culture transformation and positioning it for growth. Additionally, they held the role of Chief Human Resources Officer at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, where they led the Firm's People Strategy and executed the HR strategy aligning with the firm's goals.

Hackel's experience also includes serving as the Director of Human Resources at Oakwood Village Continuing Care Retirement Communities and Vice President, Human Resources at Veridian Homes. Jeff was President of the Board of Directors at the Greater Madison Area Society of Human Resource Management, where they provided leadership to a 10-member volunteer Board of Directors and a membership base of 700.

Prior to that, they served as the Vice President, Human Resources at Sonic Foundry, where they provided leadership to the human resource function for 450 employees and oversaw strategic planning, international HR, succession planning, and other HR initiatives.

Jeff Hackel, SPHR, SHRM-SCP completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1985 to 1989. Jeff also took courses towards an MBA at Edgewood College, although the specific dates of their enrollment are unknown. In terms of additional certifications, Jeff obtained the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Human Capital Institute (HCI) in January 2019. Additionally, they obtained the SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification from SHRM in June 2015. It is worth noting that they also hold a separate SHRM-SCP certification from SHRM, also obtained in June 2015.
