Matt Reyer

Senior Scientist, Computational Biology at Imago BioSciences

Matt Reyer is a Senior Scientist in Computational Biology at Imago BioSciences, Inc. since 2021. Matt'sjob duties include performing variant calling on patient genetic data, developing bioinformatics pipelines, and streamlining data analysis with workflow management tools. Prior to this, they were a Biophysicist and Biophysics Ph.D Candidate at the University of Chicago from 2015-2021. Matt also served as a MyCHOICE Science Writing Intern at UChicago Medicine in 2021. Before that, they were an Undergraduate Research Assistant in Lipid Membrane Biophysics and Particle Physics at the University of Oregon from 2013-2015. Matt built a micropipette aspiration apparatus to test the effect of surface tension on 2D lipid membrane viscosity and ran simulations of particle jet simulations in advance of the 2014 CERN LHC restart.

Matt Reyer's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biophysics from the University of Chicago, which was obtained in June 2021. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Biophysics from the University of Chicago in 2016. Matt also holds two Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees from the University of Oregon, one in Physics in 2015, and one in Mathematics in 2015. Additionally, they attended Trinity College Dublin in 2013 for Theoretical and Mathematical Physics.
